Abstract:Baker Hughes commercially launched a new hybrid bit, Kymera bit, which combines features of a PDC and roller cone bit in Q4 2011. Kymera bit is especially suitable for difficult-to-drill formation, such as hard, stick-slip, hard-soft interbedded formations in shale plays, as well as for directional and horizontal well drilling. Kymera bit can increase ROP with roller cone’s ingressive capability in hard formation, improve PDC cooling condition, decrease torque fluctuation obviously, and also control well trajectory effectively. Kymera bit has been successful in oil and gas field applications in many counties. The development background of Kymera bit and case studies are given.

Abstract:Matrix wear resistance (matrix hardness) is an important technical specification of diamond bit, which has direct influence on choice of bit to be used and drilling practice parameters and the improvement of technical and economical indexes of drilling. At present, real matrix hardness of bits applied in drilling engineering is lower than the nominal hardness of the factory bits that has misleading and negative influence on drilling efficiency and bit footage. In order to improve matrix wear resistance, researches were carried out on the improvement of hot pressing sintering technology, increasing the proportion of tungsten carbide in matrix materials and the mixing time of matrix materials. It is suggested that for the improvement of hot pressing sintering technology, Russian cold pressing sintering technology, with sintering pressure of 70~100MPa, should be discussed, which is much higher than the pressure of hot pressing sintering in China.

Abstract:Due to the mountain’s special geological background and human engineering activities, Chenjiawan landslide was divided into landslide Ⅰ# and landslide Ⅱ# as well as potential unstable slope by the middle ridge in the plane position. By geological disasters investigation, landslide’s characteristics and geological origin mechanism were studied, and the stability analysis was evaluated. The results showed that only landslide Ⅰ# was in unstable state in rainstorm conditions. According to the landslide’s terrain features and stability analysis, combined with the situation of the protected objects, two prevention and treatment programs of “anti-slide piles drainage ditches” and “pre-stressed anchors short anti-slide piles drainage ditches” were proposed for landslide Ⅰ#. Through comparative analysis, “anti-slide piles drainage ditches“ was recommended as implementing scheme.

Abstract:Lushan earthquake on April 20 led to a large number of secondary geological hazards, such as the development of dangerous rock mass collapse in Baoxing country, by which the lifeline provincial road S210 and more than 500 people were threatened, the earthquake relief work and post-disaster reconstruction were affected. Based on the full consideration of the nature situation of restoration region, pre-stressed anchor cable bolting, sheet pile retaining wall and rail barrier pile were adopted to form protective barriers and piles, which controlled the dangerous rock disasters at the top of dangerous rock mass in controlling region, colluvial deposit layer and the lower slope in the influence of rainstorm, and also overcame the weak bending resistance of passive network column. These measures won the precious time for the post-disaster reconstruction in Baoxing County.

Abstract:Liner hanger is a device for liner hanging and connecting with upper casing, which is important in liner cementing. Along with increasing liner cementing operation, various structures of liner hanger are used. Annular plug, too high displacement pressure and advanced setting often occur in field liner hanger operation. The paper introduces and analyzes liner hanger about its structure, performance characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, summarizes the prevention and treatment measures for the accidents easily occurred in the field application.

Abstract:While using the original bundled software of gyro-inclinometer JDT-6, serial and parallel ports have to be used at the same time for communication and the software only works with Windows 98 and according to the new requirement in engineering practice, the software GyroSProcess was developed for gyro-inclinometer JDT-6 by VB6. In addition to covering the original functions, this new software has the following advantages: the serial and parallel channels are combined into one USB or COM port; the existing survey data can be imported to GyroSprocess with data acquisition workload reduced and the efficiency of deviation survey improved; the winch operation is controlled automatically by computer, which enables data acquisition process automation; by oriented programming technology, the inclination survey maps can be converted to AutoCAD format. The paper introduces key technologies and algorithm adopted for function adding on this new software. The site test shows that the measuring result by GyroSProcess software is the same as that by the old one. Therefore, GyroSprocess will replace the old software as new accompanying software of gyro-inclinometer JDT-6.

Abstract:The detection of the interface between bored pile concrete and mud has been a bothering issue in construction, manual measurement error increases with the depth increasing of the empty hole section. Based on the physical properties that the density and electrical impedance of concrete are different with those of other media, an automatic detecting instrument of concrete interface for bored pile was developed. The paper introduces this instrument about its main structure composition, software design and the field test. The test result shows its good economic and social benefits.

Abstract:In order to develop the shallow (TVD 300~600m) low-permeability and low-abundance oil reservoirs and enhance oil recovery, Yanchang Petroleum Group tried to deploy shallow infill horizontal wells for adjustment development in the old well site of oil well area, the study was carried out on anti-crossing technology with characteristics of Yanchang oilfield under the adverse limitation of complex engineering and geological conditions. By wellbore trajectory optimization, precision anti-crossing scanning and the supporting technical measures, the well azimuth can be effectively controlled with active anti-crossing. The field application shows that by this technology, crossing is avoided for shallow horizontal wells and old well net to keep the drilling operation safety, which provides a new way to the development of difficult-to-produce shallow oil reservoir in middle-late stages.

Abstract:South Jiangxi area is the production base of weathering-crust-ionic-absorption-type RE ore. In the long-term exploration and development practice, a new exploration means Gannan drill was invented. In this paper, the basic structure, operating method and the requirements of technical quality of Gannan drill are introduced. By contrasting the application effect of this new method and that of traditional exploration means, the suitability of Gannan drill to the exploration and evaluation for this type of deposit is reflected.

Abstract:According to the related technical requirements on the core drilling in quasi-horizontal hole construction and by using of the existing CS 1000P6L core drill and common wire-line coring tools, the setting and fishing advices of inner pipe assembly were designed and improved for regular operation of ordinary wire-line core drilling technology under the condition of core drilling dip close to zero. Comparing with the effect received by the commonly used trip-round coring, the working efficiency was greatly improved with purchase cost saving of special drill rod, wire-line drilling tools and fishing appliance. The improved conveying device has the advantages of simple structure, reliable performance, low cost and easy operation. It is proved in field production practice that the geological requirements are met with expected purpose and effect, the experience is accumulated for the core drilling construction in quasi-horizontal hole.

Abstract:Ashele copper mine in Xinjiang Altay region is in typical altered water sensitive formation mainly with tuff, amphibolite, large stratigraphic dip and obvious rock anisotropy, borehole is easily deviated in drilling process. The frequent accidents of hole shrinkage, collapse, block falling and sticking restricted the selection of deviation prevention and correction technologies, which makes it difficult for the field drilling construction to meet the requirements of fast and economic geological prospecting. By the analysis on deviation prevention and correction technologies in the constructed water sensitive formation, a series of technical measures of deviation prevention and correction in water sensitive formation is presented to improve the quality of drilling hole.

Abstract:An investigation and evaluation on potassium mineral resources in Lenghuzhen of Qinghai Province is required by the project. There are large segments of halite and gypsum layer in the formation of Lenghu Town in Qinghai Province with loose stratum and high pressure coefficients. According to the special circumstances in this region, an salt resistance and collapse control non-dispersible flushing fluid was developed. The application shows that this flushing fluid has good salt and calcium tolerance, anti-sloughing and suspension property. The density of the flushing fluid should be adjusted according to the different formation pressure coefficients.

Abstract:In the traditional view, the target accuracy derived from the calculation of the drilling trajectory is the actual target accuracy, but along with the development of drilling technology and measurement technology, this concept is gradually broken. There is considerable discrepancy between the target location calculated by mathematical calculation model and the actual location in practical operation, even the target location measured by active magnetic measurement technology is uncertain. With H1-H2 well group as the case, the reasons of this uncertainty are analyzed and active means were adopted to complete the project in the construction.

Abstract:The water increase by fracturing in the bedrock strata is closely related to rock properties. Because of different mechanical properties and fracture structure of each lithology, the fracturing mechanism and process methods are also different. According to the strata characteristics of bedrock groundwater and combined with the water increasing test of hydraulic fracturing, this article focuses on the analysis on the formation mechanism of hydraulic fracturing and explores the relationship between different layers as well as their mechanical properties and the fracturing.

Abstract:According to the existing dust pollution and serious core (sample) loss in air drilling operation in open pit mine, productive experiment was carried out with air DTH hammer reverse circulation drilling technology in Lala copper opencast mine of Sichuan to test the penetration rates, the effects of dust control and core (sample) recovery percentage. The experiment was performed on 3 bore holes with total drilling depth of 483m, average drilling efficiency 8.83m/h and the whole length of core (sample) 252.43m. The effect of reverse circulation drilling was good and different drilling assembly had no influence on the effect of reverse circulation drilling. There was no dust dispersion in the test site.

Abstract:Water curtain system is the most critical part of underground water-sealed oil storage, which is composed mainly of water curtain channel, water curtain hole, additional water curtain holes, monitoring well and instrument well. The results of hydraulic test are the basis of the water curtain system apprising and the construction quality of water curtain hole is the guarantee of hydraulic test and the test results. According to the project of an underground water-sealed oil storage cavern in Liaoning, the paper explains the hydrological test method during the water curtain construction, analyzes the function and correlation of each hydrological test during the construction and introduces the construction technology of water curtain hole.
