Abstract:There are many ways to calculate directional drilling trajectory, but none of them are straightforward in trajectory processing and graphic display. A design method for directional well intersection is created with the connection line between the well point and the target as the reference plane through conversion of co-ordinates for twice. Through comparison with the calibrated average angle method and the minimum radius method, the design method is described with its advantages. This design method can provide errors between the drilling trajectory and the target in real time. Excel based software and graphics are used to track the design, resulting in simple and straightforward directional drilling design and construction. This method has been used to complete more than 100 pairs of intersected wells.

Abstract:The paper introduced 3 deep holes construction in Zhuxi mining area about the drilling formation, drilling equipment, borehole structure, bit application, drill string lifting, washing fluid application, wall protection & lost circulation control and casing situation. Analysis and summery emphasized the drilling technologies of borehole structure, bit application and wall protection & lost circulation control. Some suggestions were made for deep hole construction on drilling equipment matching; outside bit diameter increasing; drilling efficiency improvement; hole deviation, especially azimuth out of tolerance and karst cave.

Abstract:As an exploration well, Xuanye Well 1 was designed 2570m in vertical depth for shale gas resource potential evaluation. The construction was mainly drilling in the Mesozoic-Paleozoic formation with dense lithology, drillability extreme of 8~10 and formation tip about 45. Based on the analysis on the technology and the mechanism of deviation control with tower-type drilling tool, eccentric drilling tool, compound drilling and vertical well drilling; the paper introduced the experimental application of all kinds of deviation control technologies in Xuanye Well 1, and the application effects of all kinds of deviation control technologies were evaluated.

Abstract:Because of the lower cost and easier construction operation, soil-nailing wall has been widely used for foundation retaining and protection project, which brought great economic profits accompanied with more and more designing and construction experience. But the blind application of soil-nailing wall may bring safety-hidden danger to foundation pit engineering. By the case of foundation pit side-slope collapsing accident in Haikou, the analysis on the accident cause was made with treatment measures put forward. Some suggestions for the design and construction were presented to avoid the similar accidents of foundation pit engineering.

Abstract:Qizong hydropower station is a high dam and large reservoir built in the canyon area. The maximum dam height was preliminarily planned to be about 358m. The drilling sampling of deep overburden layer is essential means to find out its cause and engineering geological property, and also the important means for water resources and hydropower engineering geological investigation. Because of the thick coverage layer with bad homogeneity of component substances, drilling coring is difficult. The coring quality is directly related to the accuracy and detail of engineering geological investigation data. By the application of special drilling tools and SM plant gum drilling fluid, coring quality in deep overburden layer was improved. The paper discusses the drilling and coring process in the deep overburden layer by the engineering case of Qizong hydropower station.

Abstract:In a bi-arch tunnel with eight lanes using double-side-drift method, it is the deformation of the drifts rather than the whole tunnel section that is measured due to the restriction from the temporary linings. Only by the time when all the temporary linings are removed can the back analysis be implemented if we choose to use the whole section’s deformation data to get the mechanical parameters of surrounding rock, which is time-consuming. This paper discusses a method which involves both FEM and BP neural network to establish a nonlinear mapping relationship between surrounding rock’s mechanical parameters and drifts’ final deformation rather than the whole section’s deformation with construction sequences taking into consideration, followed by a back analysis on the mechanical parameters using the drifts’ in-situ monitoring deformation data on the basis of the above relationship. There’s a good agreement between the in-situ deformation data and the numerical deformation data achieved from a normal analysis using the back analyzed parameters.

Abstract:Selection of the appropriate shield machine to fit complex layers and construction requirements is critical for shield crossing projects while it is finished qualitatively according to construction experience at present. The paper presents that the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) and the optimum selection of shield is done in terms of qualitative evaluation and quantitative calculation by 3 steps which include establishing the hierarchical model, determining the fuzzy consistent matrix and calculating index weights. The successful application of FAHP in Yangtze River shield crossing project in Yichang shows that the essential part of FAHP is the establishment of hierarchical model. The comprehensive index weight whose value has no real physical meaning is only used for comparing and sorting.

Abstract:The functions of high-pressure consolidation grouting for hydraulic tunnel are strengthening the tunnel wall rock, sealing rock cranny around the tunnel, increasing the wall rock’s integrity and capability of anti-distortion, strengthening the wall rock’s impermeability and long-term seepage stability. This article has mainly introduced the tests and the effects of high-pressure consolidation grouting works for diversion tunnel without concrete liner, and provided the basis for grouting design and construction of the tunnel engineering.
