Review of Core Drilling Technologies Used in Continental Scientific Deep Drilling Projects

Abstract:

This article has reviewed the typical core drilling technologies used in continental scientific drilling projects in the word. The criteria for evaluating core drilling technology has been put forward, they are safety, coring quality, drilling efficiency and drilling cost. The main core drilling technologies used in scientific deep drilling projects in the word have been evaluated according to these criteria and a conclusion can be drawn that downhole motor/hydro-hammer and diamond coring method is the best deep core drilling method.
