    Abstract:

Taking the prospecting and exploration work area in the periphery of the Songjianghe Gold Mine as an example, this study explored the application effect of core magnetic susceptibility data in prospecting and exploration through the measurement and comparative analysis of magnetic susceptibility of cores from 3 boreholes. The magnetic susceptibility of 1858 core samples was measured, and a comparative analysis was conducted in combination with borehole column diagrams and magnetic susceptibility curves. The results show that: core magnetic susceptibility data has a significant marking effect on the location of pyritization and can effectively indicate mineralized alteration zones; magnetic susceptibility parameters play an auxiliary role in stratigraphic division and help distinguish different lithological and structural characteristics. In sections with strong mineralization and alteration, the magnetic susceptibility value increases significantly, showing an obvious abnormal increase compared with normal areas. There is a significant magnetic difference between quartz veins and other rocks: the magnetic susceptibility of quartz veins is less than 0.30×10-3 SI (with an average of 0.10×10-3 SI), while the magnetic susceptibility of other rocks is generally greater than 1.0×10-3 SI. Through the comparative analysis of borehole column diagrams and magnetic susceptibility curves, this study verified the practical value of magnetic susceptibility data in prospecting and exploration, and provided a scientific basis for the new round of Strategic Action for Prospecting Breakthroughs.
